How palm rejection works

• Any touch that arrives within 500 ms of pen activity is treated as a palm or wrist and ignored.
• Once a pointer starts a stroke, only that pointer is followed until it lifts, so a stray finger cannot splice into your line.
• The pen always wins: if the pen touches down while a finger is on the screen, the pen takes over.
• The browser-style touch gestures that can generate phantom strokes are disabled on the canvas.

This fixed a real problem reported by teachers on convertibles such as the HP Pavilion x360, where a resting palm used to produce jagged vertical stripes in pen strokes. Two-finger pinch zoom on the touchpad still works.

Devices it suits

Any Windows 10 or 11 convertible with an active pen: HP x360 and Envy x360, Lenovo Yoga, Dell 2-in-1, ASUS and Acer convertibles, Microsoft Surface and similar. Active pens that Windows recognises as a pen are treated as a real pen. See the Surface Pen guide for Surface-specific tips.

Setting up a convertible for teaching

1. Fold it into tent or tablet mode and lay it flat or on a low stand, like paper on a desk.
2. Install InfinitiCanvas from the Microsoft Store and start a lesson.
3. Join your meeting from the same laptop and share the InfinitiCanvas window, or plug into a projector.
4. Pick a thickness (keys 1–4) that reads well at the size students will see it.
