The canvas
- Truly infinite canvas. A 100,000 × 100,000 pixel working surface. Pan with Space+drag, middle-click, the pan tool or a trackpad swipe; zoom from 10% to 500% with Ctrl+scroll, Ctrl+= / Ctrl+−, or a pinch on a precision touchpad.
- Multi-page lessons. Add pages as tabs (warm-up, worked example, practice) and switch between them mid-lesson. Each page keeps its own position and zoom.
- Canvas modes. Keep the board infinite, or constrain it to a Desktop 16:9, Tablet 4:3 or Mobile 9:16 frame when you are preparing material for a fixed screen.
- Page templates. Blank, ruled, grid (graph paper) and dot templates that tile across the whole infinite canvas as you pan. Press
Gto cycle. More on templates. - Background colours and themes. Light and dark UI themes (follows Windows on first launch) plus a choice of board background colours.
Writing and drawing tools
- Pen (
P) — smooth, low-latency strokes built for handwriting and maths notation. - Pencil (
N) — a graphite-grain stroke for sketches and rough working. - Ballpoint (
B) — a thin, crisp line for dense annotations. - Highlighter (
H) — a wide, translucent marker for emphasising lines of working or parts of a pasted question. - Straight-line tool (
L) — two-point lines; hold Shift to snap to 0°, 45° and 90°. - Virtual ruler (
R) — a movable, rotatable on-screen ruler with tick marks; the pen snaps to its edge. How the ruler works. - Shape recognition — sketch a rough triangle, square, rectangle, circle or oval and it is replaced by a clean shape. How shape recognition works.
- Typed text boxes (
T) — click to type labels, headings or instructions; Ctrl+Enter commits. - Eraser (
E) — removes pen strokes only, so pasted images and the page template are never damaged. - Editable colour palette — right-click any swatch to set your own teaching colours; four quick thicknesses on keys 1–4.
Selecting and rearranging
- Lasso select (
V, then drag on empty space) — circle any mix of strokes, text and images. - Group move, resize and rotate — drag the selection, pull a corner handle to scale, or use the rotate handle.
- Multi-item recolour — with a group selected, click a colour or thickness to change every item at once.
- Delete — press Delete or Backspace to remove the selection; Esc to clear it.
- Unlimited undo and redo — Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y.
Images and screenshots
- Paste any image with Ctrl+V — a screenshot from Win+Shift+S, a graph, a diagram, an exam question.
- Move, resize and delete images with the Select tool; hold Shift while resizing for free aspect ratio.
- Annotate on top with any pen; the eraser leaves the image intact. Annotating screenshots.
Pen hardware and input
- Works with Surface Pen, Wacom, Huion, XP-Pen and any stylus that acts as a Windows pen.
- Palm rejection for touchscreen 2-in-1 laptops: touches within 500 ms of pen activity are ignored and the pen always wins. Touchscreen laptops.
- Mouse and trackpad friendly: Shift+scroll pans horizontally, Ctrl+scroll zooms at the cursor.
Saving, exporting and privacy
- Auto-save and restore — every stroke is saved locally within seconds; reopening the app restores pages, colours and view exactly.
- Project files — save and open
.infiniticanvasfiles (Ctrl+S / Ctrl+O) to keep a library of prepared lessons. - One-click PNG export — share the finished board with students, an LMS, Notion or email.
- Offline and private — no account, no cloud sync, no telemetry. Licence keys are verified on the device. Privacy details.
What InfinitiCanvas deliberately does not do
It is a focused single-teacher tool, so some features are intentionally absent: there is no real-time multi-user collaboration, no cloud sync or student accounts, no handwriting-to-text conversion (which would need a cloud service) and no PDF import yet. If you need a shared board that students edit live, a collaboration platform is a better fit; InfinitiCanvas is for the teacher who writes while students watch through a screen share or projector.
