Teaching in Microsoft Teams

A handwritten whiteboard for your Microsoft Teams lessons

InfinitiCanvas is a pen-first whiteboard that runs on your Windows computer. Write with a Surface Pen, drawing tablet or 2-in-1, and share its window in Microsoft Teams so students see clean, lag-free handwriting on an endless board — with nothing for them to install.

How to share InfinitiCanvas in Microsoft Teams

  1. Open InfinitiCanvas and your prepared lesson.
  2. In the Teams meeting, select Share in the meeting controls.
  3. Under Window, choose InfinitiCanvas.
  4. Write with your pen. Students see the window; the rest of your desktop stays private.
  5. Select Stop sharing when you are done.

Students only need Microsoft Teams — no accounts, links or extra apps. The board is drawn on your computer, so it stays responsive however slow a student's connection is.

Before the lesson

  • Prepare pages in advance. Add a page per stage (warm-up, worked example, practice) and paste questions with Win+Shift+S and Ctrl+V. Save it as a .infiniticanvas project (Ctrl+S).
  • Use thicker strokes. Video compression softens fine lines. Thickness 2 or 3 (keys 2, 3) reads far better than the thinnest pen on a student's phone.
  • Pick a high-contrast background. Bright ink on the dark board or dark ink on a light board both survive compression; avoid pale yellow on white.
  • Use two screens if you can. Keep InfinitiCanvas on one display and the participant view and chat on the other.

Tips specific to Microsoft Teams

  • Window sharing keeps Teams chat pop-ups and email notifications off the shared view.
  • Post the exported PNG in the meeting chat or the class team's Files tab so it sits with the lesson.
  • InfinitiCanvas works alongside Teams on school-managed Windows machines; if IT blocks the Microsoft Store, the direct installer is an alternative — see for schools.
  • Because InfinitiCanvas works offline, the board is unaffected by a Teams reconnect; just share the window again.

After the lesson

Export each page as a PNG with one click and attach it to the chat, an email, your LMS or Google Classroom, so students keep a clean copy of exactly what was written. The project file stays on your computer for next year's class.
